As part of the Junior Career Unit the 11th grade students participated in a 15-20 minute videotaped job interview on Thursday, December 4, 2008. Interviews were conducted by community volunteers: Mr. Richard Dohma and Mrs. Heather Craig-Oldsen. With additional volunteer help from Mrs. Wendy Masin (who assisted Mrs. Nancy Walsh as one of the receptionists) the students were provided with authentic interview practice. Students received valuable feedback regarding their resumes and personal presentation skills. The grades earned through the interviews were incorporated into the students’ second quarter English grade.
While completing biographical information sheets the students learn how to build a resume and practice mock interviews as part of class requirements under the direction of 11th Grade English teacher, Mrs. Deb Noll. Additionally, using the Nebraska Career Connections website students build on their career knowledge gained from the sophomore career unit. During 2nd semester the juniors may then choose to complete an off-campus job shadow that is arranged through Mrs. Fran Hassler in the guidance office.
Special Thanks to Mrs. Oldsen, Mr. Dohma, and Mrs. Masin for donating their time and expertise with the students!
