What is 1:1?

1:1 initiatives in education means every student receives his/her own personal computing device. At Ponca Public School, every student in K-12 will be issued a Chromebook to serve this purpose.

Why are we creating a 1:1 environment?

As a 1:1 school, we will ensure that every student in every class will have the opportunity to learn in an engaging environment reflective of the ever-changing world. To be consistent with the Ponca Public Schools Mission Statement, we have an obligation to build a solid educational foundation for all individuals by providng a quality learning environment and promoting standars of excellence. students for an ever-changing world, a world that sees technological advancements happening at a rapid rate. We believe that students have the right to an education that prepares them for further education and future employment and develops the skills that they must have as citizens of the 21st Century: creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.

What do we want to accomplish with this technology?

Ponca Public School District wants to improve student learning and engagement. Students can use technology to work together or with experts, like an English class using Skype to talk to an author or a science class interacting with a veterinarian at the zoo. All of this fits with Ponca Public schools efforts to engage students, build relationships that support learning, use project-based learning, and ensure that students learn 21st century skills.
