Poppy Poster Recognition Awards
Poppy Poster recognition awards were given to students in grades 3-6 at Ponca Public School on Friday, April 25, 2014, by Clair and Vera Hamar representing the Jackson American Legion and Jackson American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Students in third through sixth grade were invited by the Jackson Legion to create an original poppy poster for the Legion Auxiliary’s annual contest.Posters were judged with first, second and third place awards given in four classes.The following students received a certificate and monetary award:
Class I: Third Grade- 1st place: Julia McKinney, 2nd place: Briena Gallardo, 3rd place: Julien Buckles
Class II: Fourth Grade-1st place: Matthew Hayes, 2nd place: Alyssa Swick, 3rd place: Emma Berg
Class II:Fifth Grade- 1st place: Brandon Mellick, 2nd place: Jacob Statema, 3rd place: Kaden Fields
Class III: Sixth Grade- 1st. place: Morgan Nelson, 2nd place: Maggie McGill, 3rd place: Jordan Lamprecht
Class VII Special Needs Students:1st place: Tristan Eifert, 2nd place: Ava Fontenot, 3rd place: McKenzie Kneifl
The following posters will be judged at the state level:Class I (3rd grade)-Julia McKinney,Class II (4th-5th grade)-Brandon Mellick, Class III (6th grade)-Morgan Nelson and Class VII Special Needs-Tristan Eifert.
First place winners each received five dollars, second place winners received three dollars, and third place winners received two dollars as awards.
